On Low Gap Road

On Low Gap Road is a representation of Kentucky life in the 20th and 21st centuries. Kyle Alvey’s poetry honors a life of simplicity, work, and family. The poet explores aspects of childhood living on a tobacco farm in Appalachia, making the connection between different types of Kentuckians. Their differences, when they are positive, make us stronger. It’s a beautiful thing to recognize where and who we come from and do our best to keep memories and narratives alive.
